I visited here as well on my trip to Japan in June 2009. It was great! Man it was hot walking up the hill to this temple!

Three days if you hurry up and are on a budget should be more than enough I think — that’s how much I stayed I think and I was able to visits lots of temples.

Anyway, do go to Kyoto, your Japan is not complete without it!

My favorite place was Osaka (I arrived there — first love maybe? ^^) but Kyoto is as you say, an excellent second favorite place =)

I loved this place when I was in Japan. Kanazawa was my first favorite place(I love the countryside) but Kyoto would have to be my second favorite place!

You are also very right! Your life is not complete if you don’t go to Kyoto when in Japan ^^
