There’s not much left to say, it’s a tragedy and it is very sad to know this has happened in Japan.
The image shows a scared Panda grabbing a police officer’s leg. Great picture to remind us that we humans and animals are sometimes pretty much the same: instincts, needs, even society sometimes, and the need to hug someone!
I had initially thought that it wasn’t so bad until today where reports and videos are even more shocking. Here is one from a closeup view:
All my friends are safe fortunately, a small positive thing. Life is so fragile!

The “Kuroshio Sea” tank in the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the second largest in the world and houses 21,000 animals. The tank holds about 7.5 million liters (or almost 2 million gallons). Enough words, take a look at this video, definitely breathtaking (watch in HD!)

Archive picture from the Korean War dated 1951. I hate to talk about politics and such, but I couldn’t help it but share this picture. Makes me wonder what we humans are up to… Whatever the reason, the two kids (probably orphans) don’t have anything to do with that.

Hi everyone ^^
I have great news for you (or for me?), Michael Flux from MichaelFlux.com just told me last week that he needed a guest blogger for one week, and after some hasty preparations today was my first day as a guest blogger, quite an honor!
MichaelFlux.com was launched just three months ago but has been steadily growing, with excellent quality posts as well as beautiful pictures from Japan and many other places. Don’t forget to check his photo walks!
My first post was about Miyajima’s Torii, one of the biggest tourist attractions in Japan. Anyway, go check it out ^^

Looking at the city from Kiyomizudera in Kyoto, a buddhist temple and the biggest wood structure. Supposedly not a single nail holds the temple’s structure!
As I have said countless times, your life is not complete if you don’t go to Kyoto when in Japan ^^

You’ve probably heard the news about the 1:1 scale Gundam in Odaiba. If you think Transformers is going to lag behind then you’re wrong, above is a giant Optimus Prime somewhere (probably) in China.

I must say Gundam does seem to kick Optimus’ ass in terms of quality and materials ^^; Check out more Giant Gundam pics at Teddy’s Life Photoshoot.

For one reason or another, Japanese sounds pretty cute, don’t you think? Nice to hear Japanese gals all over speaking their cute language… now imagine if this happened to you:

Medium Kick, Shoryuken, Shinku Hadouken are all moves that I’ve been doing without a problem since Street Fighter Alpha came out. But for some reason I always have a hard time performing Ryu’s Piano Sonata, even though I play the piano. Ryu’s answer to Akuma’s Raging Demon maybe? ^^

Yesterday the Embassy of Japan gave a small speech about the Scholarship to Japan which has been the latest topic around here ^^
Half of the participants there are applying for the undergraduate scholarship, with only three seats available for all Central America I think. Nobody from Costa Rica has ever won this scholarship, since there are many topics not covered by our general education. Take a look at the past exams (chemistry, physics, math, etc.) Math is okay except for calculus (our school did have calculus though), but to tell the truth I would flunk on the other ones. It’s kind of saddening to hear the staff from the embassy say that you shouldn’t have high hopes (or any at all), but it’s the right thing to do. I mean, when you *do* have a chance it’s okay, but seriously no school here graduates students from high school with a level close to that one. I guess here’s when you see the difference between high school around here and in Japan ^^ math is pretty okay though, which is surprising.
Here’s a sample question from the Biology test (remember that this is undergraduate, you should know this by high school), I chose an “easy” one:
The final product of glycolysis in respiration, which is incorporated into the TCA cycle
A. glucose B. PGA C. Pyruvic acid D. PEP E. RuBP F. xanthophyll
